Trail builders are the unsung heroes of mountain biking. We are changing that. Specialized Soil Searching is a movement to recognize, celebrate, and support the trail builders who help shape our sport and our stoke.
Since 2018, Specialized Soil Searching has provided financial, organizational, and outreach support for trail systems around the world. We focus on three essential and interdependent aspects of trail work—ambassadors, dig days, and fundraisers—to assist communities in maintaining and growing their trail networks. Trail advocacy is the right thing to do for the sport, supporting not just bike riding, but creating sustainable, multi use trails as well.
“What is Soil Searching? The answer is simple. It is Specialized helping local trail builders and any other person willing to take care of maintaining trails so that communities can continue to enjoy our sport today and in the future.

The third Soil Searching activity in Italy involves three persons – Greg, Lorenzo and Maurizio – who are trying to upgrade the trails around Lecco, in the region of Lombardy, Italy for all riders and hikers. Their passion for mountainbikes and for the territory is what drives them.

Il secondo evento Soil Searching è stato sviluppato con l’Associazione Valchiusella Mountain Biking by Gravity Crew, supportato dai due Ambassador Soil Searching canadesi, Will e Mark, in trasferta in Italia per visitare i percorsi della Valchiusella, per raccogliere testimonianze e materiale video dell'attività.

Also Specialized Italy supports the Soil Searching project and on June 5th, 2021, the first “Dig Day” was organized, together with the Como Bike Experience Association from Cucciago – Como. This association has a mountainbike school and organizes guided tours in the territories around Como.
The Dig Day organized with Como Bike Experience Association in Cucciago – Como, was the first event of a long term project that will soon see more of those coming in Italy.
It is a way to reach out to local communities that are working hard and getting dirty on their trails, have fun together and meet fantastic persons.
